The incident took place at the historical cemetery which is located on Alexandrovskaya Fermy Avenue in Nevsky district.
According to information from the Interior Ministry’s Department for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, the vandals could have attacked the cemetery from 17:00 on 26 July to 9:30 on 28 July, when the cemetery was closed to visitors. Police officers conduct an inspection and determine the circumstances of the incident.
The Russian Jewish Congress is outraged by the barbaric crime in a city with one of Russia’s largest Jewish communities. We call on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation of the crime, establish its true motives and punish vandals.
