Education: Jewish Institute of Religion in New York
Career: Since 1979, Mr. Baker is director of International Jewish Affairs at the American Jewish Committee. He also served as President of the Washington Board of Rabbis and made a considerable personal contribution to preserving the memory of the Holocaust in Central and Eastern Europe and in Baltic states.
Appointment to current position: In January 2009, Mr. Baker was appointed Personal Representative of the OSCE Chair-in-Office on Combating Antisemitism.
Awards: In 2003, Mr. Baker was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit (First Class) for his work in developing German-Jewish relations.
